A writing assembly adapted to be illuminated, the writing assembly comprising: a sheet having a plurality of surfaces, wherein at least one aperture is formed in at least one of the surfaces, the writing surface being comprised of a material selected from the group consisting of a transparent and a translucent material a housing mounted on the sheet and adapted to conceal the at least one aperture a light source configured to be disposed within the at least one aperture means for providing electrical power to the light source and a switch configured to selectively actuate the means for providing power.ġ7. An illuminated writing assembly, comprising: (a) a sheet comprising a transparent or translucent material (b) a light source coupled to the sheet (c) means for providing power to the light source and (d) a housing mounted on the sheet such that light from the light source illuminates the sheet, wherein light emanates from at least one face of the sheet.ġ2. An assembly as recited in claim 1, further comprising means for selectively enabling the means for providing power to provide power to the means for providing illumination.ġ1.
